How to Clear a Sears Kenmore Refrigerator Drain Line While the ice maker is a relatively simple component in the Kenmore freezer, and will work for many years without trouble, it can still require repair or replacement from time to time as parts wear out or break. Removing an ice maker unit from the Kenmore is a relatively easy task that most do-it-yourselfers can complete in about 15 minutes or so to complete the job. Simply turn the valve handle clockwise to close it. Open the cover on the ice maker in the freezer to see if there is any water in it. Tape back the light switch at the top of the freezer so that it is out of the way also. Pull the cover forward and away from the freezer ceiling. You will then be able to remove the wiring harness cover from the same area by lifting it up and pulling it out from behind the ice maker unit.

Hot water when it hits the freezer makes ice fas…ter. Aug 20, 0 comments I bought a new refrigerator from Lowes and Expo came out the next day to deliver it. Lowes – Review in Installers category from Whittier, North Carolina Once disconnected water starting spraying all over my kitchen walls and flooding the floor. All the guy did was put his thumb on the connection, my wife had turn the water off for them. So while my wife is on her knees cleaning up water that they refused to clean, one of the men got under the sink where the connection was and somehow, God only know how, disconnected the hose from the connection.
Well again water started pouring into the cabinet. Expo closed the cabinet doors and left it that way and didn’t say anything to my wife about it, had her sign a form stating no leaks were found and then quickly left. My wife later found the cabinet filling with water therefore causing all kinds of issues, water pouring in behind the cabinets and baseboards and such. We called expo and they sent the guy back out who then hooked it back up and then accused her of having a bad faucet, which had nothing to do with the hose.
Do these people think we are idiots or something. We then told him to get out of our house. We called the local store, the manager told us to deal with Expo and wouldn’t help us. We have now contacted corporate and are waiting for a resolution Where do they find these morons, my 15 year old knew to turn the water off first. Product or Service Mentioned:
How Icemakers Work
Dirty water filtration system filter. Refrigerator water filtration system filters should be replaced at least every six months. Depending on usage, you may need to replace yours more frequently. Food gases are easily transferred to water and ice. Use ice cubes more frequently.
Running a water line to a refrigerator to supply its ice maker and drinking water dispenser has never been easier. At one time, this was typically done with 1/4-inch bendable copper tubing that was snaked from the refrigerator to the nearest source of water and tapped into .
They’re rather cheap – 20 to 30 dollars. For a distance such as yours, it’s best to run the flex line from behind the fridge, down through a small drilled hole in the floor next to the wall, and under the floor. And along the basement ceiling, securing it to the floor joists in the basement ceiling, or drilling holes in the joists – as with running electrical wire.
If the joists are laid in the same direction the hose needs to go, then it is simply secured in place with plastic loops against the side of one joist. When the hose reaches the area in the basement, just under the sink, a cold water pipe probably half inch will be easily accessible. The kit comes with a self tapping valve that will allow the hose to hook up without any tools. It simply clamps on to the cold water pipe and presses a hole in it for the fridge water.

The best way to answer the clear ice question is to think about icicles. If you live in an area where icicles form in the winter, you know that icicles are normally clear and beautiful. There are two things that make icicles so perfect: Icicles are made from pure water in the form of melted snow. Icicles are created in layers. Water drips down the icicle and freezes in progressive layers rather than freezing all at once. This approach avoids entrapped bubbles. If you ever look inside a restaurant ice maker, you will find that it makes ice in layers.
Cold water runs continuously over a plate or a grid where the ice is forming, and the ice cubes or ice disks in some machines grow in layers. If you would like to try creating clear ice at home, start with distilled water to eliminate the minerals and boil it to eliminate air dissolved in the water. Make the cubes small or thin to get closer to the way that icicles are formed.

Ok I have done that and left them to cool for an hour on the worktops and put the cups in the freezer at The red cup had cooled down rapidly, but still slightly higher temperature than the blue cup, but then again so does a cup of tea or coffee when left for an hour. If you were to decant the heated water into a litre jug it would overflow or you would have some water left over in your existing jug. When the heated water cools down to higher than room temperature it will contract and drop below the litre line mark, resulting in less volume of water and requiring less energy to freeze than a jug measured out at room temperature.
I will post you later with the results. Anyone else try it or is your missus at home? I would still only run a cold feed to a ice maker. In the case of a restaurant or pub the machines can average over 6 litres of water an hour and if they are piped up from a hot water mains that is only a couple of feet away from a wash or food prep sink or other appliance, the water feeding it will be quite hot and would cause the ice machine to loose capacity.
You don’t get owt for nowt.
